The "Die Jagd und Angeln" Fair 2022

From 1 to 3 October 2022, the popular Jagd & Angeln trade fair will take place for the first time around the royal hunting residence Schloss Hubertusburg in Wermsdorf. From Saturday to Monday, visitors can expect not only a unique atmosphere, but also many new highlights.

Close to the Wermsdorf Forest, Germany's Forest Area of the Year 2018, and the Wermsdorf Lakes lies one of the most important hunting lodges in Europe, the royal hunting residence Schloss Hubertusburg. In 2022, from 1 to 3 October, it will be the venue for the Hunting and Fishing Fair for the first time; Eastern Germany's largest trade fair for hunting, fishing, barbecuing and smoking. Outdoor fans, nature lovers and forest enthusiasts will also get their money's worth here.

As a country party between forest and lakes, the fair ties in with the hunting tradition of this special place and will not only present numerous fishing and hunting suppliers, but will also organise an exciting exhibition and adventure programme for its visitors.

In addition to tried and tested content such as the 3rd German WildGrill Championships with the grill village and the focus on outdoor kitchens, the wide range of culinary game and fish on offer, the hunting dog arena with breed shows and presentations on dog hunting training or the hunting action stage with many programme items - including on the current ASF situation - the fair also offers something completely new.

For example, the Schaaf falconry centre presents owls and diurnal raptors and invites visitors to go on a discovery tour. Domestic raptors and some exotic species are not only shown in the daily flight displays, but Hans-Peter Schaaf also provides visitors with lots of information about the animals and insights into falconry.

The use of drones for fawn rescue, stocktaking and ASF control will be demonstrated and explained in appropriate demonstrations. On the nearby shooting range of the Hubertus 90 e.V. shooting club, it will be possible to shoot trap and test the latest shotguns from the exhibiting manufacturers on all three days from 13:00 to 16:30 with prior registration (requirement: valid hunting licence).

Hunting traditions are also on offer at the fair. Various hunting and par force horn blowing groups show off their musical skills and on Sunday morning a Hubertus mass is held in the baroque castle church, to which all visitors are cordially invited.

There will also be numerous surprises for anglers. For the first time, a practice area will be set up for fishing product and boat suppliers at the Döllnitzsee barrier. Visitors will be able to try out various fishing equipment directly on, near and in the water and test it in practice.

But there is also a taster fishing session for future anglers to try out this popular leisure activity for themselves. A regular shuttle service runs directly from the castle to the lake. Numerous workshops and lectures at the exhibition centre also promise valuable tips from the professionals.

Of course, good food and drink is also provided, because enjoyment is simply part of hunting & fishing. In addition to e.g. wild boar on a spit, game burgers, baked carp, Wermsdorf fish soup, but also Häggis and Irish stew as well as various other game and fish specialities, there is also a suitable bock beer from the Altenburg brewery.

Visitors can also look forward to a colourful family programme with hands-on activities, games and arts and crafts fun. There will even be helicopter flights over the site. At its new location, Jagd & Angeln 2022 promises a unique experience for young and old that is not to be missed.
